Alex Rice

President

Alex Rice is the co-founder and President of Nova Scotia Spirit Co. After studying business at the University of Prince Edward Island, Alex moved to the mountains of British Columbia, where he built a career in the tourism and hospitality industry. His journey culminated as Director of Sales and Marketing at a ski resort in Smithers, BC.

Transitioning to the beverage industry, Alex took on senior roles in sales and marketing at two major BC breweries, honing his expertise and fueling his entrepreneurial spirit.

Building on those experiences, Alex co-founded several successful ventures, including a marketing agency and a software company. However, his proudest accomplishment is Nova Scotia Spirit Co., where he channels his passion for craft beverages, community, and innovation.

Evan Maceachern

Director of Business Development

Evan MacEachern has been with Nova Scotia Spirit Co. since its inception in 2015, starting as the company’s first employee. Over the years, he has held multiple roles, becoming a key driver of the company’s impressive sales growth.

Evan earned a BA in Psychology from Saint Francis Xavier University. His passion for the beverage alcohol industry began early in his career, with four years dedicated to developing new restaurants in both the UK and Nova Scotia.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Evan is deeply committed to community engagement. He has contributed to youth development programs by coaching sports, and leading company fundraising efforts.

Kristen Williams

Director of Finance and Human Resources

Kristen is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and the first Controller at Nova Scotia Spirit Co. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before starting her career as a staff accountant at FK Williams CA Inc., where she worked from 2013 to 2017 while completing her CPA designation.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kristen is deeply committed to her community. She has proudly served as Treasurer for the Pictou County Sexual Health Centre since Spring 2014, demonstrating her dedication to making a positive impact.

Scott Decoste

Director of Planning, Supply Chain & Procurement

Scott DeCoste has been a vital part of Nova Scotia Spirit Co.’s growth since joining the team over five years ago as one of its earliest employees. Throughout his tenure, Scott has excelled in a variety of roles, including Spirits Manager, Area Sales Representative, and Operations Manager, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the company’s success.

With an educational background in Engineering and additional beverage industry training, Scott brings a unique blend of technical expertise and industry knowledge to his role.

Outside of work, Scott is a talented musician who has performed at numerous local events. He also dedicates his time to charitable initiatives in his community. Looking ahead, Scott is excited about the company’s continued growth, expansion into new markets, and celebrating many future milestones with Nova Scotia Spirit Co.

Breanna Rice

Director of Marketing

Breanna Rice is a dynamic marketing strategist and brand builder, driving the growth and creative vision behind Nova Scotia Spirit Co., a leader in craft spirits and ready-to-drink beverages in Canada. As Director of Marketing, Breanna has been instrumental in shaping the company’s identity, expanding its reach, and launching innovative products that resonate with consumers.

Since joining Nova Scotia Spirit Co., Breanna has led transformative initiatives, including the rebranding of Lost Bell Estate Winery and Annapolis Cider Company, and the launch of new Blue Lobster Vodka Soda beverages. Her expertise in strategy, creative direction, and product innovation has positioned the company as a standout in a competitive market.

Breanna’s career began in public service, where she specialized in marketing, policy development, and communications. This foundation, combined with her private-sector accomplishments, allows her to craft authentic, compelling narratives that connect brands with their communities.
